Camp Cowen Dining Hall & Offices
Cowen, WV
Design

As Constructed
Camp Cowenís successful summer camps have caused a substantial increase in enrollment in the last 10 years. The previous dining hall, built in the 1920ís, severely limited the number of campers who could enroll each summer. Anticipating even more campers in the future, the new dining hall provides more room and new services, as well as a cohesion with the exisitng layout of the camp. Banded by large porches, the building opens up to a outdoor common area from which the administration offices, camp store, central restrooms, and the dining hall itself can be accessed by campers. Additionally, the lower level provides two cabins and a meeting area, that will be able to accommodate group retreats in the campís off season. We hope this building will become the cornerstone of Camp Cowen, serving generations of campers for many years to come.
